It just keeps coming

This is the last post on the snow. It's like watching a train wreck - at some point you gotta move on...

We're up to at least 26" on the trusty bbq. It's still snowing but today it's also blowing quite hard so I don't think my "scientific measurements" will be terribly accurate for much longer. Besides, I want to use that barbecue so that snow has to go.

Still snowing

We woke up this morning to find that it continued to snow all night. I went out and measured the incredibly scientific "bbq snow meter".

16 inches so far and it is still dumping snow....I'll keep you posted.

April Showers?!

What happened to April Showers Bring May Flowers? A few days ago I was watching my perennials start to pop up in the garden. I had planned to blog about that.

Instead I'm blogging about this...

There's a foot of snow on the barbecue so far and it's still coming down.

Sun, sleet, rain or snow....whatever - where are the sheep?

The garden inuksut seems to be quite happy with it all. Maybe that's part of our problem. Perhaps a garden gnome would attract more rain and less snow?

New Wheels

For the past 17 years I've driven a mini van. Mini vans are practical and are fairly common among dog people. You can stuff an awful lot of dogs and gear into a van, which comes in handy when you are traveling to dog shows. So, I've been very "pro mini van" most of my adult life.

The times they are a changin...

It may have started about five minutes after I decided to bring sheep home in the mini van earlier this winter. Yes, you can stuff 80 pound ewe lambs into 400 vari kennels. Yes, you can transport them in a mini van. What you soon realize is that sheep "relieve" themselves - A LOT. Sure steams a mini van up quick. Sure is aromatic.

So now I have a truck. What the heck was I thinking, driving a mini van on dirt roads all these years? Trucks rock!

Change is good.

What's going on?

I know, I'm not blogging as often. No, the novelty has not worn off. The weather is gorgeous. Green grass is starting to appear (I have to look REALLY HARD, but it's there) and the snow is finally disappearing. Blue birds have shown up and the neighbour has heard a robin. It's SPRING! It's hard to spend time on the couch with a laptop when I could be outside doing ANYTHING, so that's where I am, mostly.
Aside from the outside world calling to me, we've started renovating the house. So, the usually disorganized clutter has been upgraded to "bomb has gone off" and the faster we get the renos done, the faster we'll go back to the usual state of disarray that we're so comfie with.
Anyway, there will be more blogging in the future. In the meantime, I'm hoping to take Tell and some of the sheep out into the field today. Finally!

Saved the best for last

Some of you have been asking about Mateo. He'll be 13 in August, so I guess when folks don't see or hear about him they start to worry about the worst.
The good news is, Mateo is doing great. He's not generally in any of the pictures because he can almost always be found right beside me. There's not too much to say about him except that he's still my perfect dog.

Twelve more years please.

Fitting In

Resting up for the next round...

Sweep is fitting in nicely. He plays hard with Biscuit and Bruce, is suitably professional when hanging with Tell and has learned to appreciate quiet moments with Mateo.
