Way to go Karen!

Huge congratulations go out to our friend and neighbour Karen Ramstead for finishing another Iditarod with her team of Siberian Huskies. You can check out Karen's exploits at http://www.northwapiti.com

A lot of people talk the talk, but Karen walks the walk.

What about me?

All this talk about puppies and sweaters and porcupines and humans has got Tell worried. He shouldn't be. As much as I have been distracted lately "blogwise", I'm still thrilled to death with Tell - just haven't mentioned it much.
For example. I've been sorting the pregnant ewes out to grain them. There's no way I could do it without Tell. Well maybe there is, but not with my "facilities"! Everyday he goes out there with me and makes what could be a miserable job into an enjoyable part of my day.
You're a good boy Tell!

Stick with me kid, you'll go places.

My mother made me wear it....

Aussie pups have generally shown up here looking fairly substantial and quite furry. Sweep showed up looking quite tiny and "unfuzzy". When I took him outside the first few times he started shivering pretty darned quick.

My maternal instincts kicked in. I sprung into action...and made him a sweater. I made him wear it - once. I think he wanted to die of embarrassment. Anyway, I told him that if promised not to look pathetic outside I'd promise not to make him wear it again. I swear he's been fine ever since!

Want to toughen a stock dog up quick? Make him wear a floral print.

And then there were two...

Border Collies are like Lays potato chips. You can't have just one.

Meet Sweep.

More to come...

Heat stroke!?

It had to be. What else would possess a perfectly healthy, of at least average intelligence person who is nice and warm and toasty to throw themselves into incredibly cold, wet and deep snow?

Travis catches a little air

You can see the dogs staring on in horror as Travis takes leave of his senses.

Bruce, showing great promise as a "mental illness alert" service dog immediately sprang into action (literally) and jumped from the trail onto Travis's stomach. Good boy Brucie!

Looks like getting in was easier than getting out...

You look a little snowy Travis...

Nothing like another 45 minutes of walking in wet jeans to cure heat stroke!

New faces

We have new sheep! Here are the latest additions.

Sheep One

Sheep Two
Sheep Three and Sheep Four

.Group shot - kind of like a cocktail party early in the evening - no one's really mingling yet. Funny, there's definitely 10 sheep in that picture but I guess one of the girls was being a bit sheepish...
